Safety window film turns your window into officially recognised security glass

Glass is used more and more often in homes and in office buildings, because glass allows natural ingress of light, creating better living and working conditions. Glass windows not only allow light in, they let people see in and out of the building. Nonetheless, glass has one major disadvantage: glass is a very fragile material and can crack easily if it comes into contact with a solid object. It might be a stone, but it could be worse – a person walking into, or falling on, the pane. Broken glass poses an immediate danger, because the shards that it produces can seriously injure animals and humans. Loose glass shards are sharp on all sides because glass breaks into points. The answer as to how to make your glass safe and stop glass shards from forming (and coming loose) is safety film for glass. This window film ensures that the glass is held together even when broken. The safety window film turns the glass into a shield, as it were, preventing the glass shards from dropping out of the pane. The glass shards stay adhered to the safety window film reducing the chances of injury as contact with the broken glass is avoided; in other words, it is an easy way to create a safer environment for your home or at the office.

Safety window film has several purposes and applications

Safety film for glass can be divided into six categories. Each film category is specifically designed for a special situation for safety needs to be guaranteed. Anti shatter glass film is popular in schools and nurseries. Anti shatter glass film holds the pane together even when the glass is broken. A break could be caused by a child or adult walking into, or falling onto, the glass. Anti theft window film protects against burglaries when entry is forced through glass. Burglars mostly enter through windows, because glass is the most fragile part of a house or office. After you have applied anti theft window film to the glass, it is practically impossible for any burglar to enter the house through the glass. Our range of safety window film is also suitable for industrial use. Safety film for glass comes in two varieties that protect against vandalism: our anti scratch film and our anti graffiti film. These two kinds of safety window film protect your glass against vandals who might scratch your windows with a key or spray graffiti on them. If your glass is subjected to vandalism, simply remove the film and your windows are left undamaged.

Safety window film complies with the 2B2 DIN EN 12600 standards

Our entire range of safety window film has official certification awarded by the German authority MPA-NRW in North Rhine-Westphalia. Our safety film for glass has been tested according to the EN12600/DIN EN 356 testing method. Several tests are carried out to certify and classify the various kinds of safety film for glass into different categories. The anti shatter glass film is classified as 2B2 DIN, a classification that confirms that the glass to which the anti shatter glass film is adhered holds together safely when the glass breaks. Anti theft window film (QS7) received the same 2B2 DIN classification.

Safety film for glass is suitable for all types of plate glass

Safety window film can be applied to practically all types of glass. Nonetheless, there are a few exceptions for which safety film for glass cannot be used. Safety film for glass is a rigid type of film, so the film cannot follow the structure of an uneven glass surface. Examples of uneven glass surfaces are: patterned glass, wire-reinforced glass, leaded glass and enamelled glass. Apart from the exceptions listed above, safety window film can be applied to all types of plate glass. Plate glass means that the glass surface is even or smooth, such as the case with single glazing, double glazing and Low E glass. Safety film for glass is transparent and does not have a heat-control effect, so you can apply safety window film to the inside of all grades of Low E glass including triple glazing. The coating that is applied between the panes of Low E glass windows is not counteracted by the safety window film, ruling out any risk of an expansion crack immediately.

The practical advantages of safety window film

Here is a brief list of the advantages of safety window film:
• Safety window film creates a safer working and living environment
• Safety film for glass is transparent and consequently invisible
• Glass shards do not come loose when the glass breaks
• Safety film for glass has official certification
